What to know

How can massage help with muscle soreness?

Studies show massage affects muscles at the molecular level. The findings suggest that kneading eases sore muscles and enhances vagal activity which, in turn, reduces cortisol leading to many effects including reduced pain and increased immune function.

What are some other physical benefits of massage?

Massage has a profound effect on the body. A 2012 NIH study found that one hour of Swedish massage once a week was optimal for knee pain from osteoarthritis.

Other benefits include:

1. Boosting immunity

2. Improving circulation

3.Reducing blood pressure

4. Reducing injury recovery time.

What about emotional wellness benefits?

The benefits of massage are not limited to the physical. Massage has also been known to positively effect the emotional wellness of clients.

Some of these effects include:

1. Enhancing sleep quality

2. Easing symptoms of depression

3. Relieving stress by lowering hormone (cortisol) levels

4.Reducing anxiety by releasing endorphins, serotonin, and oxytocin

What to Expect

I’ve never received a massage. What can I expect?

Expect a pleasurable experience. Once your intake form has been answered to satisfy the COVID-19 related questions, and you are cleared to enter, you will come into our office no earlier than 10 minutes prior to your appointment and have a pleasurable, therapeutic experience.

Your therapist will have a pre-service consultation with you, where you discuss your goals for the session. At any point during the session, you are able to communicate to the therapist any new developments, or change of course. You can stop the session at any time; you are in complete control of the session.

Immediately following the session, you will have a post-service consultation, where additional recommendations may be made.

How much clothing should I remove?

We leave this to your discretion. Undress to your comfort level. 98% of clients remain in their underwear. Women must remove their bra. Should you choose to remove your underwear, the therapist is trained to practice safe, draping techniques that will ensure your modesty is preserved at all times.

Some of our clients choose to keep their socks on. This is perfectly acceptable. Please note that the barrier may signal to the therapist that you wish to skip a foot massage.

How early can I arrive?

Please come no earlier than 10 minutes before your appointment.

We are in a single, reception less studio and may be in session.
There is a waiting area, any guest you have can wait for you during your session.

Do you have parking?

Our office is located in Center City Philadelphia where there is plenty of street parking and nearby parking garages/lots. Please allow for extra time for finding parking nearby.

The Philadelphia Parking Authority recognizes some Holidays and offers free parking on those days.

We are also easily accessible via public transportation.

Precautionary Measures

Do I need to wear a mask?

Presently, you are not required to mask up.  Your therapists, however may wear a mask throughout the session.

What precautionary measures do you have in place?
While we no longer require clients to wear masks,  nor check temperature at the door, the office is still sanitized and disinfected after each client. Additionally, as always,  linens and towels are freshly laundered for each client. Lastly, the massage room has a medical-grade, HEPA 13 air purifier.

Do you use gloves during the massage?

We have disposable latex-free, nitrile gloves at hand to use upon request. Nitrile gloves, rather than vinyl gloves, have shown better results at protecting against viruses.

Miscellaneous

You have a CBD infused oil as an add-on service. How different is CBD from marijuana?

Unlike marijuana, CBD does not contain tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the chemical that causes users to feel high. Since the THC has been removed, researchers believe that CBD treatment is likely to involve a low risk of abuse or addiction.

The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration will soon reclassify CBD in a medication category among other drugs that have received federal approval for medical use.

Is tipping required?
Thank you for asking! We hear this question often.  As in most service industries, tipping is customary and always appreciated in the massage industry. A 15-20% gratuity is the norm for a quality service experience.
